'Our focus works'
'In 2005 Océ emerged as one of the fastest growing players in the industry, with hardware sales up by more than 10%,' according to Rokus van Iperen, Océ CEO. 'This is proof that our focus works. It is also proof that our four point strategy works: our strong investments in innovation and greater distribution power coupled with our structural programmes in operational excellence and improved cost competitiveness. OpenHouse 2006 is bigger and better than ever--and that is a sign of things in general at Océ today.'
Van Iperen also confirmed Océ's commitment to ongoing research and development: 'For the past five years, in a time of low economic activity, Océ has continued to invest. We have maintained strong R&D investments, which this year will top 215 million euros.'
Strong new sales and marketing activities
Outlining his growth strategy, Van Iperen commented on recent Océ actions: 'We have expanded our sales forces in all major markets, from 4,200 people in 2004 to more than 5,350 today. We continue to develop strong new sales and marketing activities such as the Professional Office and Printroom Programmes. We take an ambitious approach to operational excellence, to ensure a lean, mean Océ. And we are outsourcing manufacturing to strengthen our cost competitiveness. By the end of this year, 50% of our Dutch manufacturing will have been transferred to Eastern Europe and Asia.'
An excellent move that creates great opportunities
Reflecting on the recent acquisition of Imagistics International in North America, the largest acquisition in the history of Océ, Van Iperen said: 'Imagistics is a financially successful organisation with a proven ability to execute. The Imagistics customer base spans 50% of the Fortune 1,000. Together we are a powerful combination. We offer a complete line of products and services, a best-of-breed strategy for all segments. Océ Imagistics is an excellent move that creates great opportunities.'
