Satisfied customers welcome new Canon-Océ imagePRESS C7010VPS digital production press

Already 15 customers in five European countries

Venlo, The Netherlands, 17 May 2011 – Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced that the first imagePRESS C7010VPS series color printers have been sold and installed at customer sites.

GVO vice president Hans Arns before his new imagePRESS C6010VPSGVO, a Dutch commercial printer specializing in the publication of books and academic literature such as theses, course material and marketing collateral, is the first customer. The imagePRESS C7010VPS series is the first digital production press developed jointly by Canon and Océ. It combines Canon image quality and productivity with the workflow efficiency and processing power of Océ PRISMA®sync operation management. The series comprises three new units: the imagePRESS C6010S, C6010VPS and C7010VPS.

Former offset volume moved to digital

Based in the eastern Dutch city of Ede, near Arnhem, GVO vice president Hans Arns is delighted to have added an imagePRESS C6010VPS to his machine park. Being so satisfied with the output, image quality and registration, he was able to move former offset volume to digital. GVO is now producing twice as much volume on the imagePRESS C6010VPS as estimated upfront. GVO installed the new imagePRESS C6010VPS alongside the black & white high volume Océ VarioPrint® 6250 production printer connected to Océ PRISMAprepare make ready software.

“Investing in digital production press was the answer”

“We see an increase in the number of short-run publications and the challenge of running them on an offset press,” Arns said. “We needed a color production device that could handle the printing of covers, inserts and complete short-run brochures. We wanted the same way of working for color and black & white and were excited at the way the new digital production press could be integrated with the Océ VarioPrint 6250 and Océ PRISMAprepare software. The imagePRESS C6010VPS was exactly what we were looking for!”

Already 15 Océ customers in five countries

Since the launch of this innovative digital production press at Graphispag in Barcelona and On Demand in Washington on 22 March 2011, no fewer than 15 Océ graphic arts and corporate customers in five European countries have ordered an imagePRESS C7010VPS series printer. This number is set to grow rapidly as customers increasingly recognize the benefits of buying from the Canon and Océ combination. Installation has already taken place at five customer sites.

“Boosting color production printing and workflow efficiency”

“Customers tell us that the compelling combination of Canon and Océ is taking color production printing and workflow efficiency to the next level,” says Nick Klitsie, Vice President Business Group Office and Printroom at Océ. “This new digital color press offers customers the unique benefits of a printer that combines Canon’s proven digital color press technology with Océ PRISMAsync workflow innovation. We are glad that GVO acknowledges the excellent productivity on heavier media, offset-like image quality and the improved production efficiency with an ease of use unusual in this industry.”

“Delivering our customers real productivity benefits”

David Preskett, European Professional Print Director at Canon Europe, agrees. “By incorporating Océ PRISMAsync into our existing range, we are now able to offer our customers even more capabilities and flexibility than ever before. This joint innovation shows how the leading technologies from Canon and Océ can deliver our customers real productivity benefits and help them make the leap towards new areas of business.”

Number one presence in the printing industry

It is evidence of the existing synergies in research and development and offers customers access to leading industry technology. This new joint production enables Canon and Océ to demonstrate that they are stronger together and aim to become the global leader in the printing industry.
